Community PartnersFriends of the Daly City LibraryThe Friends of the Daly City Library were established in 1956 with the mission to foster closer relations between the Library and the residents of Daly City and to stimulate community interest in the activities of the Library. The Friends Board of Directors meets on a monthly basis to plan activities and programs to support the Library. Peninsula Library SystemThe Peninsula Library System (PLS) is a consortium of libraries which includes all thirty-five city, county, and community college libraries in San Mateo County. Your Daly City Public Library library card is valid at all PLS libraries. The City of Daly CityThe Daly City Public Library is a department of the City of Daly City, which administers it and provides for its funding. The Mayor and City Council appoint the Library Board of Trustees. History Guild of Daly City/ColmaThe History Guild of Daly City/Colma operates a small museum at the Serramonte Main Library. The museum is open to the public Tuesdays from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. Community Information ProjectThe Community Information Program (CIP) provides information on nonprofit and public services available to people who live or work in San Mateo County, California. The CIP database is available from the PLS web site. Project ReadProject Read of North San Mateo County provides free tutoring to assist adults in learning to read and write. The Daly City Public Library, along with other area libraries, hosts Project Read tutoring and Families for Literacy story nights. Daly City Peninsula Partnership Collaborative ProgramThe Daly City Public Library is a member of the Daly City Peninsula Partnership Collaborative. The Program was formed in 1995 as an outgrowth of the FUTURES program. The mission of this group is to promote and facilitate collaborative efforts to ensure that young children and their families have access to the health, education, and social services they need to be successful in both school and life. Our focus is on families and young children from before birth to third grade. Other members of the Program include Accelerated
